Severity: Information (Green / Blue)

Service required indicator

A spanner symbol meaning a scheduled service is due. It is a reminder, not a fault.

Can you continue driving?

Yes — no immediate risk

Service required symbol

What this light means

A scheduled service has come due, by distance travelled or time elapsed, or an oil life monitor has counted down. This is a reminder the car sets for itself — nothing has gone wrong.

Common causes

  • The service interval has been reached
  • An oil life monitor has expired
  • The reminder was not reset after the last service

What to do now

Nothing urgent. Book the service at a time that suits you.

If the symbol appeared immediately after a service, the reminder was almost certainly not reset — worth a phone call to whoever did the work rather than a second service.

When to see a mechanic

At the next convenient date. Oil changes deferred for long enough cost considerably more later than the service does now.
