One or more tyres has fallen below the pressure the system expects, or the system has not been reset since the tyres were last inflated or a wheel was changed.
Check all four tyres with a gauge at the next safe opportunity and set them to the pressures on the label in the door opening or fuel flap — not the number moulded into the tyre sidewall, which is a maximum, not a recommendation.
If one tyre is far lower than the rest, treat it as a puncture. If the car pulls, thumps or the steering feels vague, slow down and stop somewhere safe rather than pressing on to the next services.
If a tyre keeps losing pressure after being inflated, or the light stays on once pressures are correct and the system has been reset.
